'Procrastination' is one of the first "big" words I learnt as a child. I was taught that procrastinating was an evil, habit forming action (or non-action for that matter) and something to steer clear of at all costs. Why didn't I pay better attention? It's one of my favourite pass times! Putting things off can easily become second nature and before you know it, you turn into a constantly worried little stress ball - totally self-inflicted! It's always easy to say that you operate better when under stress, when there is a sense of urgency, but don't be fooled - it's just an excuse. It's just so easy to postpone doing the boring, mundane stuff, but it's usually those things that take up the most time. So without any further dawdling, I have decided to eliminate most of the stress in my life and stop procrastinating! [They say practise makes perfect]. World Kindness Day was on 13 November. Isn't it sad that a specific day has to be dedicated to being kind? We live in an "every man for himself" world, so I suppose it is important to remind people to be kind to one another. But even if you are genuinely kind to someone, it may not be perceived that way as the receiver of kindness often becomes suspicious of ulterior motives. Now that's sad! Maybe I'm being naive, but kindness should come naturally and if it doesn't - it can be practised! Studies have shown that practising kindness is good for our mental and physical health - and it's contagious! Apparently our personalities also change over time so that we become nicer from the age of 30 onwards -less neurotic, more warm hearted and more responsible. So there is hope for all! May we all be inspired to display pure, undiluted kindness to everyone that crosses our paths. And on http://www.travelpeople.co.za/ this week, there is a lot of kindness going around!

We all have to make decisions on a daily basis. That's just part of being an adult. Some decisions are quite mundane - like deciding what to have for supper, but others are complicated and can often be life changing. Decisionmaking is a skill we learn as children, where we learn to weigh up different options and consider the outcome of our decisions in the long run. I cannot help but think that in our grandparents' day it was so much easier as information was limited and choices were fewer. In today's world, we are constantly bombarded with information, and all the input often leads to overload! The more information we gather before making a decision, the more complicated it becomes and in the process we often forget to listen to our instinct or gut feel. Life just ain't easy!
