We all know that it's about survival of the fittest. Even children learn from a very young age that it's important to win, to be the best, and as parents the "winning is not what is important, it's about playing the game" speech often does not sound very convincing to our own ears. Competitiveness as a personality trait is definitely more defined in some people, and surely it can be be traced back to our inborn instinct to survive. 2,000 years ago it may have been about the fastest and most skilled hunter getting the food, but today it's about the best paid job, the biggest house, the fastest car. The bigger is always better, get more, more more ... That's the jungle of modern day life, but then we're sort of missing the point, aren't we? Let's not lose sight of the bigger picture.
