Often kids are told by their parents: "Don't do as I do, do as I say." I've always wondered how much of the desired effect this statement would have. Even as a child myself, I thought it to be quite laughable. How can you lead if you don't lead by example? (I'll have to remind myself of this next time my child loses his temper ...) It's similar to expecting that people treat you with kindness & respect even though you don't treat others the same way. We don't have to be important role models to set a good example. Any positive change that I would like to see in my family, community, work place or elsewhere has to start with me. We all have to lead by example. And it starts with the little things!
